Stop the War, Set Up a Safety Net

Grigory Yavlinsky, the democratic reformer who heads the Yabloko Party, will challenge Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov and Boris Yeltsin in Russia' presidential elections.

It is the peculiar phenomenon of Russia's current economic situation that we have a financial stabilization policy as well as a long-term privatization program, but no bankruptcies. That is a false economy, and that is why Russia is not advancing. Bankruptcies are the necessary path to speeding up productivity. This must be explained to the people.
