Joseph Rotblat, a nuclear physicist and a Fellow of the Royal Society, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1995 for his decades of work with the Pugwash Conferences to avert the dangers of nuclear war. During World War II, Dr. Rotblat was the only scientist to resign from the secret project to created the first nuclear bomb in Los Alamos, NM, when it became clear Germany would be unable to produce a nuclear bomb of its own.

London - The recent nuclear test by India and Pakistan have caused shock and alarm but should not have come as a surprise.
